Just rented the movie "Broken Flowers." This movie had potential. I like Bill Murray who plays the main character, Don Johnston. The rest of the cast were pretty good. But this movie goes nowhere fast.
The main character, Don, discovers that he has a son out there somewhere. So, for the rest of the movie, Don seeks out his old girlfriends so he can figure out which ex-girlfriend gave birth to Don's son.
This movie uses an old plot where a playboy has treated women badly and now must face them again. Maybe this could've worked if the movie had taken a fresh look or done something different but there is nothing fresh about this movie.
Bill Murray has become one of my favorite actors. And I enjoyed his sad sack character in "Lost in Translation" but I'm getting pretty bored with the minimalist, show no emotion character.
And boring is the best way to describe this movie. Skip this movie and rent "The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou."
