Wendy and I went down to the Capital square for Taste of Madison today. This festival has booths from different restaurants. Each booth offers 3 or more dishes which cost about $3 to $5 each. It's a great way to sample food from different cultures and restaurants.
I had squash curry and Pad Thai from SukoThai, Island Wheat beer from Capital brewery, and Baklava from Jamie's. Wendy had nachos, a sampler barbecue plate from Poboy's, and a turtle sundae from Michael's frozen custard.
I thought the best thing we had was the egg roll filled with hot chocolate, chip cookie dough from Bluphies. It just melted in your mouth and is the strangest combination of East meets West.
There was a group called Young Gourmets that was recruiting kids and giving cooking demos for kids. St Mary's Hospital also had a whole section for kids. These two sections were nice additions.
Free music was provided by bands that ringed the square.
The weather was just right, not too hot, and it wasn't as crowded this year. Some new booths added spice to the event. Last year, was somewhat disappointing. So, it was a relief that Taste of Madison was great this year.
