Remember 8 inch computer data disks. Then 5 1/4 inch disks came along. Then 3 1/2 inch data computer disks came along. And eventually, cd-rom disk drives came along.
The last two computer video games I bought were on DVD disks. I have a DVD disk drive in my computer. So, that was fine.
My point is that if you don't have a DVD disk drive in your computer, eventually you're going to need one. If you don't play PC video games, it may be a long time before you need a DVD disk drive. But if you buy PC video games on a regular basis, you're going to need a DVD disk drive sooner than later.
And DVD drives are as cheap as $40. (I'm talking about regular playback drives not DVD burner drives.)
The reason video games are being put on DVD disks is because DVD disks can hold about 7 times the amount of data than a regular CD can. That's why stores are selling DVD recorders and not CD recorders.
Actually, I was glad they came out with video games on DVD. Otherwise, I would get a game with 5 disks and if you lost one of those disks, you were out of luck. Also, with the million or so disks I have in my den, I don't need to add another million disks.
