Snow & Movies

Shoveled snow 3 times today: by shovel, I mean we used the snow blower and shovel. I don't want to sound too ambitious.

Snowy days are great days to watch movies: I watched 2 today:
"Friday Night Lights" It's hard for me to be a good judge of football movies. I watch football occasionally, but I don't live or die by it. So, maybe I'm the wrong person to review this movie.

Billy Bob Thornton plays a small, Texas, town high school football Coach. Time and time again I've been entertained by Billy Bob Thornton. And I enjoyed his performance again in this movie.
Lucas Black plays the role of a high school quarterback. Although Lucas Black isn't a well known name, you might remember him as the boy, Frank Wheatley, in the movie "Sling Blade." I also enjoyed Lucas's performance in "Friday Night Lights." He's grown and so has his talent.

So, here are two actors that I like but stuck in the same old football movie plot. Tough games, tough coach, tough parents, and a small town in the middle of nowhere. If you like football movies, this one is well done: good acting, good editing, and it feels authentic. But without spoiling the movie for you, it's the same old football movie you've seen many times before. If you want see a better movie, rent "All The Right Moves" with Tom Cruise or "North Dallas Forty" with Nick Nolte.

The other movie I watched today was "Cellular." Kim Basinger plays soccer mom/ high school science teacher Jessica. She is kidnapped, taken to an old mansion, and locked in the attic with a shattered phone. Jessica pieces the phone back together and by chance happens to call the cell phone of a young, surfer dude named Ryan, played by Chris Evans. I've never seen Chris act in anything before. So, I assume he is a newcomer.

So, Ryan the surfer dude helps Jessica the science teacher outwit the bad guys. This is mainly done by using a cell phone and a lot of heart.

Thrown in is one of my favorite actors, William H. Macy, as a retiring cop who also helps fight the bad guys.

Overall a fast moving movie well worth renting. This movie won't win any academy awards but it kept me entertained and the plot fit together nicely. If you liked the movie "Speed," you will like this one.

Our street after receiving 5 to 8 inches of snow. Posted by Hello

This is Wendy using a snow blower to blow snow from our driveway. If you don't live in a climate that has snow, a snow blower is like a lawn mower that picks up and throws the snow. Posted by Hello

2004 Photos. This is my favorite. There are many street performers in New Orleans but the man in this photo wasn't collecting money. He was just playing his music to play his music. Posted by Hello
